With a lifelong passion for racing, John brings extensive industry experience, beginning as a successful jumps jockey in Victoria before transitioning to training in South Australia in 2004. Operating from a well-equipped private training complex in Clayton Bay, he combines hands-on horsemanship with innovative training techniques. His property offers a 1700m sand track, young horse education facilities, river access for water work, and proximity to top training locations like Strathalbyn, Murray Bridge, and Goolwa Beach, ensuring every horse receives tailored preparation suited to its needs.

A firm believer in individualized care, John limits his stable to around 20 horses, allowing him to work closely with each runner and maintain strong communication with owners. Regular updates are provided via the MiStable app, with direct trainer access always available. His approach balances performance with horse welfare, utilizing his partner Tiffany’s expertise in equine therapy to keep his horses in peak condition. Horses enjoy a natural training environment, with paddock options for those who prefer space over stabling, contributing to their long-term soundness and success.

Since saddling his first winner in 2005, John has been a consistent presence in South Australian racing, regularly finishing among the state’s top trainers. Notable victories include the Christmas Handicap with Boristar and success with stable star Arkham Knight. His ambition is clear; competing at the highest possible level while ensuring owners enjoy the thrill of racing.
