Trainer Profile
Morphettville based trainer John Hyam has been a consistent presence in the winner’s stall for over 15 years, securing numerous notable victories, including a Group 3 Breeders Stakes win and multiple successes in Melbourne.
Racing runs deep in John’s blood. Growing up in Murray Bridge, he worked with his grandfather, a trainer in the 1970s and ‘80s, while his father, Kingsley Hyam, was a jockey. After starting his career as a greenskeeper, John transitioned into racing, spending years as foreman for Byron Cozamanis, where he gained invaluable experience. In 2009, he took out his trainer’s license, winning with his very first runner at Morphettville.
John’s Morphettville-based stable boasts top class facilities, including a high-speed galloping treadmill, salt room, and access to a swimming pool and water walker across the road at the racetrack. Just minutes from the beach, his horses enjoy regular sessions in the water.
Each of John's owners are kept fully informed about the progress of their horse, and the fully interactive website allows all owners to keep right up to date on all the stable's activities. As John says, "It's our commitment to ensure that all of our owners feel included in the full experience of owning a racehorse".
