The Richard and Chantelle Jolly-trained Out Of Square continued her strong form with a convincing win at Murray Bridge on Saturday, making it four victories from her past five starts.
The Hellbent filly has gone from maiden winner at Oakbank to three-time city winner in just two months, with co-trainer Chantelle Jolly admitting she’s exceeded expectations.
“She’s been a bit of a surprise packet,” Jolly said. “At home she doesn’t show much, but she switches on come race day.”
Saturday’s win took her career earnings to $215,000, including $78,000 in Racing Rewards SA bonuses, a figure that highlights the added value the scheme brings to owners and trainers racing locally in South Australia.
Bred by Mill Park Stud, Out Of Square has only missed the placings once in seven career starts, that being in the Listed Redelva Stakes behind eventual Group 1 Goodwood winner Reserve Bank.
With the $105k Racing Rewards 3YO coming up on 14 June at Murray Bridge, the stable will be looking to capitalise on the scheme’s exclusive race before a possible freshen-up and tilt at black-type company again.
“We’ll take it one run at a time, but something like the Lightning (Stakes) could be an option,” Jolly said.
