Michael Hickmott ’s in-form stayer Party Crasher is giving his owners plenty to celebrate, continuing a red-hot run since debuting earlier this year. A $40k purchase from the 2023 Karaka Sales in New Zealand, the gelding has now racked up three wins from five starts and over $104k in prizemoney; never finishing outside the quinella.
He first turned heads with a slashing run from the tail to grab second on debut behind Serinte Illusion at Strathalbyn. He then broke through in style next start at the same track, winning by 1.5 lengths as race favourite.
After just missing in a photo to talented galloper Teadrop Rotation in the Shillabeer at Oakbank, Hickmott stepped him up in trip, a move that’s paid dividends.
Party Crasher has since strung together back-to-back wins over 2000m and 2250m, and may have earned himself a shot at the Queensland Derby in a fortnight’s time.
With a large group of owners from across Australia, Party Crasher has proven to be a bargain buy and the party shows no signs of slowing down.
