They say you should never judge a racehorse by her price tag — and nowhere is that more evident than in the rise of Never Ordinary, the $1,250 filly who’s quickly proving she’s anything but.

Trained by the Byron Cozamanis stable, the two-year-old daughter of Dirty Work has already turned heads in her first racing preparation. After a bold performance to finish second in the Listed Cinderella Stakes at just her second start, Never Ordinary stepped out again and delivered in style — claiming her maiden victory with the tenacity of a filly far beyond her experience.

It’s a remarkable story for a youngster who, early on, wasn’t expected to make it to the races at all.

“We were told she probably wouldn’t make it to the races but we’ve just been patient with her,” says stable foreperson Giahn Pierpoint.

“She’s such a tough filly, she’s happy as Larry and pulls up well after each run or gallop.”

Patience, resilience, and a little bit of faith have been the foundations of Never Ordinary’s journey — and now she’s rewarding the team in a big way. Her professionalism, competitive spirit, and rapid improvement have the stable buzzing about where her talent might ultimately take her.

“She’s definitely a classy filly. We’re really excited to see where she takes us,” Pierpoint adds.
