Ichibansan can build on what has been an astute purchase for connections when he chases another country feature in Sunday’s Quorn Cup.

The half-brother to multiple Group 1 placegetter Dalasan, who started with Leon Macdonald and Andrew Gluyas before a stint with Will Clarken, Ichibansan was purchased for just $14,000 via the Inglis Online Auction platform last August.

He’s earnt a cheque in each of his 14 starts since joining Kylie McKerlie’s Port Augusta stable including three wins and four placings earning connections $88,675 in prizemoney.

Ichibansan claimed the Port Augusta Cup two starts back before he was beaten into third spot behind Doctor Robert and Our Destrier in the Roxby Downs Cup last time when a $2.50 favourite.

Those three horses will do battle again on Saturday in the fifth heat of the 2025 Outback Cups Series.
