It was touch and go whether Ginger Sinner would even line up at Morphettville on Saturday, but a couple of early scratchings gave trainer Paula Trenwith enough reason to roll the dice and it paid off in a big way. The Castlevecchio gelding dug in deep to hold off Group 3 winner Colmar in a gutsy finish, landing his second win from just five starts for the stable.
“I wasn’t even sure I was going to run him,” Trenwith admitted on Racing.com. “The map didn’t look great, but the scratchings helped and I thought, well, let’s give it a go. Top four or five would’ve made me happy. I never even dreamt he’d win.”
Purchased for just $15,000 from the Richard and Chantelle Jolly stable, Ginger Sinner has now banked $58,850 since joining Trenwith. He’s proving to be a smart pick‑up and a reminder that giving a horse with attitude a second chance can pay off handsomely.
