Ryan Balfour spent many years working alongside his father David in Singapore and Malaysia throughout the 1990’s.
Upon returning to Australia Ryan took out his owner/trainer permit whilst continuing to work for his father, and in 2012 he went into partnership with David. In 2014, Ryan took over the main operation of the Balfour business after the passing of his father. Since then his stable has remained one of the state’s strongest. He has been a regular fixture in the top 10 of the SA metropolitan trainer’s premiership and has enjoyed Group 3 success with Li’l Kontra in the National Stakes last season.
